The Iliad  is a Greek epic set in the final year of the Trojan War. Written 
by Homer, it is the story of the Greek hero Achilles who abandons his 
fellow soldiers. Angered by the death of his friend Patroclus, he 
returns to battle and slays his Trojan enemy, Hector. TheIliad  deals 
with passions and insoluble dilemmas.
